Whalers' Cabin, Point Lobos, by Paul Roark

This version of Whalers' Cabin was printed with a variable-tone inkset, here used to achieve a split-tone with warm tones in the light from the cabin and cold tones on the "moon-lit" tree.

At one time I was very interested in split tone printing by selection area, but more recently I've backed away from such things, preferring a more traditional monotone image with no "gimmicks." I think the usual pattern with digital photography is to over-do things at first just because you can. I was certainly guilty of it.
