Port Angeles, Washington, by Paul Roark
Port Angeles, Washington, is on the Olympic Peninsula and is the
U.S. end of a ferry to Victoria, Canada. Returning
at a little after 9 p.m. the fog was getting quite thick, and it was
rather dark. Nonetheless, the Rolleiflex GX with Kodak T400CN was able
to capture the scene -- hand held, wide open (f 2.8) -- as we arrived
on the ferry.
Although I usually prefer slower film, the Rollei with T400CN makes
a very versatile outfit when hand held shooting is required. The
grain is fine enough that it looks good at a 16 by 20 enlargement.
Yes, today I'd probably use my digital camera, but the old ones can
still do some excellent work.
