"Sunburst"
by Paul Roark

From my home in the Santa Ynez Valley, California, I am frequently treated to wonderful skies. This sky presented itself as storm clouds cleared.

"Sunburst" was taken with a Bronica RF 645 medium format camera, 45mm lens, and Technical Pan film. Using a tripod, I took 2 exposures. One was to record the shadow and sky values that would be present in a normal exposure. The second one was to capture the disc of the sun. The images were combined in Photoshop.

The Bronica medium format rangefinder, with the outstanding, symmetrical 45mm wide angle and Tech Pan film hit near the top of the film technology evolution. It gives me a reference point to compare to evolving digital capture.
